Knotted Beauty
Due to the revival of the seventies for some seasons we have been seeing designers picking up on macramé craft techniques to create new shapes. Passed down over hundreds of years, this craft of using decorative knots to finish the loose end of hand-woven textiles slowly spread throughout Europe. It eventually became a common pastime for sailors who sold their products like hammocks and belts when they reached the shore, thus spreading the craft to different places. Knot-tying remained a popular hobby and way to adorn clothing and textiles through the Victorian era and never completely lost its magic, hence all new inspiring interpretations we currently see in fashion, architecture and interior design.
